- The simplest way to wax a nose is to run your embroidery yard through the wax prior to embroidering the nose. Beeswax comes in several forms. Shown here is clarified beeswax in a round holder which makes running your yarn through it a bit easier and natural beeswax in bar form. Running your embroidery yarn through beeswax also makes the embroidery thread glide through the fabric without catching or tangling.

- To get a really well waxed nose, shave small pieces of beeswax into a small container and melt them in the microwave. A baby food jar in boiling water (like a double boiler) will work too.

- When the wax has melted into a liquid, use a paint brush or a sponge make-up applicator to paint the wax onto the nose. Allow the liquid wax to absorb into the fibers of the yarn.

- When the wax starts to be a bit lumpy and is not absorbing any longer, use a piece of brown paper bag to buff it down and smooth it out.

- If the nose gets too lumpy to buff with brown paper, try a bit of very fine sand paper to smooth it out. Then move on to the brown paper to bring on the shine.

- Repeat these steps until you are happy with the thickness and the shine of your waxed nose!
